This was a fun project and one I was really looking forward to taking on. The client was in a situation where they had two large rooms, both of which were being used for multiple purposes but the layouts didn’t make any sense.
These two rooms, once organized, needed to serve multiple functions including a spare room, an office space, a small workout space, a children’s playroom and storage. After a brief discussion with the client, we went to work purging, sorting and reorganizing!
Here is a look at Room #1 before:
Although it was currently working as a spare room, this is where the office needed to be moved to. It would also be the space for the kids playroom and work out area.
And here is a look at Room #2, currently holding files, memorabilia, a large desk and luggage. The final purpose for this room was a small spare room and storage.
It took 2 days (One with just myself and one with an additional organizer), but we managed to make the spaces much more open and functional. We were also able to purge an entire truckload of donations and junk.

By moving the rug, we created a separate play space, that now holds all of the toys and doll houses. We were able to fit the treadmill next to the desk, the corner of which can house a laptop or small tv, if they want to watch something when they’re working out.
The desk fit perfectly under the window and we also left a tall boy dresser to act as storage for craft & sewing supplies
Here is Room #2! With the large desk now gone, we were able to split the room in half, using the far side behind the couch for storage of books, files, memorabilia and luggage……
…..While the second half, once cluttered with bins, now acts as the bedroom, with tape marking where the single bed will go, once purchased.
The client saw huge changes in just 2 days, much of which is attributed to them for being flexible with their vision and making the tough decisions on what to keep and what to purge. The end results created a 2 brand new spaces for the entire family to take advantage of and enjoy.
